Dear Karin Pople,
Here's some information sent to me from Christopher Pople, Bristol (who is my fathers third cousin):
The London Poples are mostly a mystery to me. There was a Pople at the
beginning of the 19th century in London who was a printer/publisher of a
play by Coleridge. There was a William Pople, blacksmith born in London in
1856.
Keith Neale Pople b1933 lived in West Vancouver, Canada in 1996. His father
(Kenneth Pople) and his uncle (Bernard Pople) and their father ( Sydney
Alban Pople) were all born in England.
Sydney Alban Pople born Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, 1875, died 1971,
occupation printer, emigrated to Calgary, Canada, in 1910, enlisted in
British Army, (Signal Corps) and fought in World War 1.
A simple family tree given to me by Dave and Jo Pople:- (needs to be
checked)
William Pople b 1625 High Ham
Thomas Pople 1656-1695 High Ham
James Pople b1684
James Pople of Catcott ( near Bridgwater) b1710
James Pople 1753-1836 = Elizabeth Haddon 1753-1836 of Bawdrip near
Bridgwater
James Pople born Bawdrip 1836 died 1907 = (1st wife) Jane Laver 1823- 1865
This James Pople founded the family business later Keith Pople chain of
clothes outfitters in Burnham-on-Sea in 1857.
2nd wife of James Pople-: Ann Pratt 1835-1909
Herbert F Pratt Pople 1866 -1943= Alice Julia Symonds 1866-1909
Herbert Keith Pople b1892
John Anthony Pople (Nobel prize winner born Burnham-on-Sea) b 1925 , Donald
Pople b1928 (lives in Bristol) went to Cambridge University and was in
charge of Keith Pople shops.
Sydney Alban Pople b1875 was the only brother of Herbert F Pratt Pople and
there were two surviving sisters Eliza b1868 who married John Jenkins and
Annie Kate Pople b 1872 who married Thomas Cox.
William James Pople 1860-1922 was the only son of James Pople's b Bawdrip
1836 first marriage. He was a prominent buider in the Weston-super Mare
area and the company signs were still around in the 1960s. He was the
grandfather of Jim Pople the former ITV producer.
All best wishes,
Kevin James Pople,
