: : I've been looking, recently, for information on a John Havicon, born in Ireland in the 1820s, moved to the US and later, married a Rachel Ann Rhamey. Please email me with any help that you might be able to offer.
: Brandon
: From what I know about Havicons in the British Isles, there are only a small number remaining -- my mother, my three half brothers and their young children. My father (Terence Havicon) and I were both born in Ipswich, Suffolk; my grandfather (Alexander Havicon) hailed from Hull, Yorkshire; and from what has been passed down, his family came into England from Ireland. Previous to that, I believe Havicons arrived in Ireland from France or Holland, and the name may have originally have hailed from Scandinavia. However, this, I'm afraid , is all hear say from people who have passed on.
: If you have any other information, I would be really interested to find out more.
Katie, I have been trying to find out more about my great grandfather John Havicon who was born in Ireland 1822, married Rachel Rhamey in the US and died 1876. I know he will be the same person that Brandon Rogers was making enquiries about. I am just beginning to understand the internet so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. However, I have submitted a follow up to Brandon and I'm also making contact with you in the hope that one of you will get back to me with some more information. I cannot trace any Havicons in Ireland at all. However, my uncle tells the story that John Havicon said there was a whole village of Havicons back in Ireland. Please help, I think they've all disappeared. I will be very grateful if you can help. Gloria Broczek
