I have been searching for mainly TWO bits of information in order to complete my Carter line....note: Hill Carter was the son of Edward (of Blenheim Plantation)Carter and wife Sarah Champe:
1. The burial sites for both HILL CARTER and his wife, MARY ROSE CARTER (married in Amherst 3-5-1802)
so as to be able to document their birth and death dates. I did find a reference in an old newspaper that HILL CARTER had died 9-2-1830.
2. HILL CARTER is always referred to as HILL (of MINE HILL) on the Carter Family Tree,etc The question where is/or was Mine Hill Plantation ( I know it was a plantation as I located one reference in an old newspaper in Charlottesville which had an article describing several CARTER homes,etc...but nothing else)? It was always stated(in old family obituaries,etc) that Hill was from AMHERST County, Va. but the people in the Historical Center there knew nothing about it. I am now wondering if in fact it could have been located in what is NOW some portion of Nelson or Albemarle Counties..
