I am the greatgrandaughter of Cynthia Ann Mark and Horace Mathew McLearen, they were from Catlett, Fauquier Co, VA; had 12 children: Houson, b3/1875, Douglas, b 9/1876, Mary M, b10/1877, Roberta G, b 5/1880; HN (perhaps Horace Nimrod), b 9/1881, Gracie E, b 9/1882; BL, 8/1884; VC, 10/1886; Lillian Estelle, b 9/1888 (my grandmother); Nora I, b 7/1890; LL, b 12/1894. Those with initials are supposed to be girls. I have records showing a Ray McLearen, b 1860; and Alford O McLearen, b 1889; an earlier generation shows Algernon, b 5/1824, and Martha (maiden name Garrison), b 5/1831; children Jennie, Ray & Boggs (twins); Ida, Charles, Newton and Earnest; lived in Broad Run twnsp, Fauquier Co., Algernon's father was perhaps Captain James McLearen?? If any of this ties in with your information, I would be interested in sharing info. Thanks. It seems that the McLearen variation is one of the least common, and it is very hard to come by information, or others w/ the same surname.. I am the son of Martin Douglas McLearen, previously from Norfolk VA., His father was Sidney Mclearen, whose brothers were raymond & I can't remember the other off the top of my head, he also had 2 sisters, lorina & celestine, they were from catlett VA, ray stayed near the catlett area, and had no children, their father was alfred mclearen of catlett VA, I am not sure of how many brothers or sisters, or names, but they were the children of owen mclearen, My father has alot of information from the arrivals of McLearen's into the U.S., most of which seemed to be around the timeframe of the revolutionary war, and I intend on researching it thoroughly over the next few months.. If you would like to research together, let me know..
