Charles Jones UK to USA early 1900

I am trying to find out some information on a great grand parent but only have very limited information, could any help in pointing out where to go next.

All I know is that he was called Charles Jones and left Farnworth (or Bolton) England between 1900 and 1914 fro West Virginia USA.

He was a miner but may have worked on river boats.

I think he may have had a Sidney Jones (Brother or Son) travelling with him.

Any help would be welcomed.
