My 3x g grandfather had Sir Joseph Banks speak to Mrs Cook, widow of Capt James Cook on behalf of her sister in law Mrs Margaret Fleck (sister of Capt Cook) who was in dire straits in 1801. I notice that Mrs Fleck's daughter, Mary, married George Duck in 1817 at Whitby. As Bartholomew Rudd, my 3x g grandfather was the son of Bartholomew Rudd of Marske/Guisborough and Susannah Duck d/o George Duck of Marske/Danby and Egton, I am wondering if there was a connection between these Ducks.
