NEW INFORMATION on PENKE's
I will have to change much of the previous message as I have received new Information concerning the Penke's.
It would seem now that Fredrich (1845) and Ferdinand (1840) came at different times. Ferdinand may still have been in Philadelphia at the time of the 1870 census. But: Fredrich arrived in Ripon, Wisconsin about 1873 He was the first to arrive. Ferdinand came a couple of years later, followed by another brother Carl (Charles) W. Penke. Fredrich married Louisa Hannah Furstenau near Green Lake, Wisconsin in 1879. Ferdinand 's first child William was born in Ripon, WI in 1877
Fredrich had been a footsoldier in the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71)Came from Hohenfier, Flatow, Grenzmark, Germany (Prussia)
Charles would have been born in 1853. Charles was married in Fond du Lac Co. in 1882
wife was Emelia and children Clara, George H. and Louis. In 1910 they were in Marathon County Wisconsin.
There was another brother who came to US for three years and then returned to Germany. No Name available.
I am looking for anyone who recognizes this family -either in US or Germany. davidripon61@aol.com
