My mother's middle name was Keifer. She was from Alabama. However, Keifer was a great great cousin or uncle (?) who I believe was from Ohio, enlisted in the Civil War on the Union side at the age of 17, captured and died at Andersonville. His grave marker is there. I have more information is you feel there is some connection.
