: My husband's Mother was Virginia Hogan born in Chicago in 1917 daughter of Thomas F. Hogan born June 17,1887 and Mary O'Connor also born in Chicago. The Parents of Thomas were Michael Hogan and Mary B. Lynch. I have not been able to fine any of the family history.......Bonnie

: : I just married a Hogan, and newfound interest is the Irish who during or following the potato famine years came to the US and eventually settled in Chicago. Many worked on the drainage canals there, as I understand it. Would like to hear from anyone who has knowledge of this group of Irish immigrants, perhaps where they came into the country and how they got to Chicago. My husband's parents, and grandparents were born and died Chicago but perhaps gr grandparents came over? Just beginning with this and anxious to learn more.

I am a Hogan in rockford Illinois with a grandparent of the name Thomas Hogan and wife Betty Hogan. His parents immigrated here from Ireland around the early 1900's(not sure). Familt came from County Cork in Ireland.
