My great-great-great grandfather was John Hurst, Sr,, b.1732, Shenandoah Co., VA, d.1825, Harrison Co., In. My great-great-great-grandmother was Mary (Barksdale) Lindsey, widow of Rev.War soldier William Lindey, wounded at the Battle of Guilford Court House. The widower John had 10 children by Lydia Smith, of which were Elijah and Leah. Mary was widowed by William Lindsey, Rev. War soldier, wounded at the Battle of Guilford Court House. They had 10 children, of which were Mary & Jesse, Sr. John & Mary were md. in late 1780s & had 1 child, son Named Beverly Hurst, who fought at the Battle of Tippecanoe. Elijah Hurst md. step-sister Mary Lindsey and Leah md. step-brother Jesse Lindsey, Sr. John, Mary, 21 children and some grand-children left VA, moved into Eastern TN, where some dropped off, then into KY where some dropped off,then settled in Harrison Co., IN where Hursttown was founded, near Corydon. The old Hursttown Cemetery is still there. Leah & Jesse Lindsey, Sr. moved to Dubois Co., IN & settled. They had 11 children: (1)Mary, md. Thomas Anderson, min. 4 children, (2)Lydia, md. Thomas Payne, 9 children, (3)Elijah, md. Mary Green(e), 6 children, (4)Sarah, md. John G> Brittain, 11 children, (5)Jemima, md. Joel Mavity, 4 children, (6)William Henry Harrison, lived in Dubois & Pine Counties, IN, (7)John N., md. Isabella ___, 4 children, (8)Lorenzo Dow, md.(1)Sarah Ann Harmon, 6 children, md.(2)Artemici Kimmel, 11 children, (9)Leah, md. Jacob Harmon, 4 children, (10)Jesse. Jr., b. Ca. 1820-23, md. __, __ children, lived in Dubois & Pike Counties, (11)Lavina. Lorenzo Dow Lindsey & Sarah Ann Harmon's 6th. & last child, John Thomas Lindsey (11-05-1853 to 05-21-1923 was my grandfather. He settled in Greene Co., IN. His second wife was the widow Mary M. (Newsom) Taylor, who had 3 children of her own. They had 5 children, the last, Dexter D. Lindsey (1901-97) was my father.
